We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Welding Fabricator Lead Man to oversee our fabrication operations and ensure projects are completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards.
About Us:
We are a family-owned steel fabrication shop specializing in custom metalwork for commercial, industrial, and residential clients. With a commitment to quality, we take pride in delivering exceptional results.
Responsibilities:
* Lead, mentor, and train a team of skilled welders and fabricators.
* Plan, assign, and direct daily welding and fabrication tasks to meet production schedules and deadlines.
* Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly.
* Perform various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Arc, etc.) on different materials (steel, stainless steel, aluminum, etc.).
* Fabricate and assemble metal parts, brackets, and structures according to required dimensions and tolerances.
* Conduct quality control inspections of finished products, ensuring adherence to quality standards and specifications.
* Monitor project progress, track milestones, and report weekly updates to management.
* Identify opportunities for process enhancements and efficiency improvements within the fabrication shop.
* Ensure all safety protocols and procedures are strictly followed, maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
* Estimate time and material costs for custom fabrication projects.
* Operate and maintain a variety of welding and fabrication equipment, including torches, power supplies, saws, grinders, and other machine shop tools.
* Troubleshoot and repair equipment as needed.
Qualifications:
* Proven experience as a welder/fabricator, with at least 3+ in a lead or supervisory role.
* Expertise in various welding processes (MIG, TIG, Stick, Flux-Core, etc.) and ability to work with diverse metals.
* Strong ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols.
* Proficient in using measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, and depth gauges.
* Excellent knowledge of metal fabrication techniques, including cutting, shaping, bending, and assembly.
* Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to motivate, train, and manage a team effectively.
* Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
* Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to all safety regulations.
* Ability to lift and move heavy objects (50+ lbs.) and stand/be active for extended periods.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Valid driver's license (if applicable for occasional travel or material pick-up).
Preferred (but not required):
* Experience with CNC cutting machines.
* Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
